Ruined legacies of industry and industrialisation should be a warning for the future not to follow the same pathway and repeat the past mistakes. This sentence summarises the ideas behind the public engagement of a group of five committed women who gathered in 2019 to oppose the ways in which local politics manage industrial wastescapes in the Croatian town of Sisak. The lecture discusses the grassroot initiative as an example of emerging mode of post-industrial citizenship.

Sanja Potkonjak is Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb/Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology.

Der Vortrag findet im Rahmen der Vortragsreihe des Instituts für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie zum Jahresthema »Kulturen der Arbeit. Entgrenzungen und Subjektivierungen in ‚neuen Zeiten‘« statt.
